Open Position: Funding Specialist (Eastern Time Zone)

Salary: $68,000 / yr

About You

You’re an experienced loan processor, closer, or funder with a proven track record of creative problem solving, excellent multi-tasking and prioritization, and a focus on customer service. You’re self-driven, tech-savvy, responsible, easily adaptable to change, with a genuine desire to fund loans fast! You’re relentlessly proactive and organized, and pitch in to help your team members when they need it.

 

You have several years’ experience in a loan processing, closing, or escrow and at least a basic knowledge/understanding of accounting, financing, lending, and systems administration. See below for more details on preferred qualifications.

About the Job

This role is all about preparing mortgage loan documents required for closing or transfer, which will involve working closely and collaboratively with clients, real estate brokers, third-party service providers, and internal business partners. You’ll review loan level documentation for accuracy and data integrity and check loan conditions prior to funding short-term business-purpose mortgage loans for investors, all in a consistently fast-paced and variable environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review data entry and all submitted loan documentation for accuracy and completeness

  • Work directly with underwriting and processing departments, in conjunction with the loan originator to obtain documentation to clear funding conditions

  • Draw loan documents and coordinate fundings with Escrow

  • Process title eliminations

  • Review completed closing documents for accuracy

  • Review closing packages for signature consistencies and compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines

  • Balance with Escrow and review and verify all fees and charges associated with the loan on the settlement statement or closure disclosure, cash to close and funds due to borrower to ensure loan settlement meets  guidelines

  • Perform Quality Control by reviewing loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance standards

  • Respond promptly to general closing questions from brokers, loan officers, processors, or loan servicing

  • Work closely with all team members to manage a pipeline of loans in various stages of the funding process

  • May assist the Recording Specialist by following up with Escrow for final settlement statements, final title policies, and post funding appraisals.

  • Assist the loan sales team to clear note buyer exceptions/conditions.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • 4 years’ experience in loan closing or escrow/title.

  • Superb customer service skills/communication

  • Exceptionally high level of accuracy/attention to detail

  • Ability to work well in a consistently fast paced environment

  • Ability to react quickly to changing needs of company, clients, and underwriting standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Able to maintain positive attitude in a deadline driven environment

  • Superb organizational skills

  • Exceptional ability to establish and work on multiple priorities and maintain great attitude

  • Energetic self-starter

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
